🎉 RLH Construction Celebrates Groundbreaking of Plant Street Commons in Historic Downtown Winter Garden

RLH Construction is proud to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Plant Street Commons, a dynamic mixed-use development that will further enhance the walkable, vibrant character of downtown Winter Garden. The ceremony, held on August 27, marked a major milestone for a project expected to bring new energy, new jobs, and new opportunities to one of Central Florida’s most beloved communities.

Located at 429 W. Plant Street, directly across from Plant Street Market, this highly anticipated development reflects the continued growth and demand within Winter Garden’s thriving downtown corridor — and RLH Construction is honored to serve as the general contractor bringing this vision to life.

🌱 A Vision for Community, Connection & Growth

Plant Street Commons will feature a thoughtfully designed mix of residential, retail, and dining experiences, including:

  • 10 luxury two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments
  • 8 for-sale townhomes offering two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms
  • 5,300 square feet of retail and restaurant space

When completed in late 2026, the project is anticipated to create 50 permanent jobs and more than 200 construction jobs, contributing to Winter Garden’s economic strength and long-term vitality.

🏙️ A Growing Downtown in High Demand

Winter Garden continues to experience unprecedented demand for residential and commercial space. According to Cushman & Wakefield’s Q1 2025 retail report:

  • The West Colonial/Winter Garden retail submarket reported a 3.8% vacancy rate
  • Orlando’s overall retail vacancy rate was similarly low at 3.7%

This strong demand underscores the need for well-planned developments like Plant Street Commons — and RLH is proud to help deliver new living and retail options in such a competitive market.

🤝 Partnerships Supporting Winter Garden’s Next Chapter

The groundbreaking event brought together the project’s development team, community partners, and local leaders. Key collaborators include:

  • Atrium Development Group – Developer
  • Silling Architects – Architect
  • RLH Construction – General Contractor
  • Atwell & RVi Planning – Civil Engineering & Planning
  • SouthState Bank – Financing Partner
  • Additional investors and city officials

Atrium Development Group Partner Adam Wonus shared his excitement, stating:

“We are honored to add to the walkable, vibrant lifestyle that makes Plant Street so unique. Winter Garden is one of Central Florida’s most wonderful places, with its rich history, thriving local businesses and a true sense of community.”

RLH Construction is pleased to support this vision and help shape the next chapter of Plant Street’s growth.

🧱 Building Among History & Momentum

Plant Street Commons joins a corridor rich with history and ongoing development. Nearby landmarks and recent real estate activity underscore the area’s momentum:

  • The historic Edgewater Hotel sold for $10.3 million in August
  • A 1915 retail building at 18–20 E. Plant St. is on the market for $2.99 million
  • Downtown Winter Garden continues to attract high interest from expanding businesses and new concepts

The Plant Street district is home to popular destinations including Crooked Can Brewing, Foxtail Coffee, The Hangry Bison, Michelin-recognized Norigami, and dozens of local shops and eateries. Plant Street Commons will complement this already thriving environment.
